Session Information

Presentations dealing with any aspect of visual communication are welcome and may include but are not limited to the following themes: graphic design, visual aesthetics, still and motion photography, visual literacy, the ethics of visual communication, new communication technologies, cultural issues in visual communication, pedagogical issues in visual communication, and representations of reality in visual communication.

  • While traditional research papers are welcome, the authors of all submissions should plan to adapt their proposals into visual presentations.

  • Works in progress are welcome, as are panel discussions.

  • Once accepted, there is a registration fee to be included in the conference. Directions on how to register for the conference will accompany a letter of acceptance.

The visual presentation must be one of the following. When submitting abstract information, one of these must be picked.

  • STANDARD SESSION: A 15-minute presentation with five minutes for discussion. Presentations will be placed into groups of three to five with a facilitator.

  • CREATIVE WORKS CLIPS: At the town hall at the end of last year’s conference, it was suggested and approved that instead of showing full works, filmmakers or other creative presentations would be limited to introducing and providing clips for a total time of no longer than 12 minutes. The various filmmakers present offered that it would be more consistent with the overall conference to focus on either trailers for longer films or film sequences that would benefit from discussion.
